Lighthouse Adventures 2018
For our spring trip we flew to New Orleans and met our group of USLHS members. First we saw several off shore Louisiana lights by helicopter. Through LA, MS, AL, and the upper west coast of FL we were bussed 1,424 miles to lights, museums, hotels, and restaurants. Five times we were on boats and motored to the off shore lighthouses. We had a good trip and met some nice people but missed our own car. We enjoyed eating the sweet delicous gulf shrimp and alligator. We saw 12 new lights and 13 repeats on this trip.
Our summer trip started with a few repeat lighthouses in OH and MI. Then a convention for five days. We visited some lights in Michigan and Ontario when the weather was good. Next we met up with our friends from IN. We only had four days and enjoyed their company while hunting out lighthouses. We were on their boat six times in Canada and Ohio and motored a total of 128 miles. We love vacationing with the Clays. We saw 3 new lights and 18 repeats. The rest of the summer didn't go as planned.
For our fall trip we flew to Florida and rented a car driving 1,696 miles in 12 days. We visited friends and took a boat trip to Boca Chita Key. We chartered a plane for 3 hours going 341 miles in the Keys. With a group we were on 3 different boat cruises to the off shore lights of the southern Keys and had rough seas due to the winds. We chartered two boats with others which was exciting. We saw 12 new lights, 15 repeats and went 94 miles in 6 boats. We've now photographed 1,616 lighthouses in USA/Canada.
