The Chesapeake Bay Bridge & Tunnel is 17 miles long. We were on a 120 mile lighthouse cruise with
Chesapeake Lights seeing ten lights. I took this shot on Sept. 17, 2007.
There are three Duluth lighthouses near this Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. This was taken on July 27, 2009 while we were on a 90 minute
Vista Fleet cruise photographing the lights.
We went under the mighty Mackinac Bridge during a
Sheplers lighthouse cruise on Aug. 6, 2009. The narrator on this day was the always entertaining Terry Pepper of
GLLKA.
The Jeffrey's Hook lighthouse is dwarfed in comparison to the George Washington Bridge. I took this on Oct. 11, 2009 after visiting my father in the hospital after his surgery.
This is the Verrazano Bridge. I took this shot on September 18, 2010. The stubby Fort Wadsworth lighthouse is on top of the fort in the bottom left of this photograph.
After we had an ice-snowstorm I went out to photograph the old Highlands Bridge (replaced in 2010) that spans the Shrewsbury River. I took this shot on Feb. 8, 2007.
The Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge goes over the Milwaukee River. On June 28, 2010 the Keweenaw Star passed near the 2 lighthouses so our
GLLKA group could photograph them.
The Confederation Bridge is 9 miles long and spans from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island, Canada. This was taken on Sept. 26, 2003 near the Jouriman Island lighthouse.
The
Goodtime III motored under this train bridge on June 20, 2010 during our 2 hour cruise. We finally got up close to the two Cleveland Harbor lighthouses.
After we landed in San Francisco we first visited the Point Bonita lighthouse. Next was to take this shot of the Golden Gate Bridge from the northwest hill on May 28, 2006.
This old Highlands draw bridge took 2.5 years to replace. The new bridge was completed in Dec. 2010. This was taken from Twin Lights of Navesink's north tower on Nov. 24, 2007.
The Oakland Bay Bridge (I-80) is near the Yerba Buena lighthouse. On May 29, 2006 at 7:52 am I took this shot from Captain Rick Weber's boat. We saw 8 lights and 2 bridges.
The Houghton-Hancock Bridge is also known as the Portage Lake Lift Bridge-Hwy. 41. Our
GLLKA group aboard the
Keweenaw Star motored under it on Sept. 6, 2009.
The J.C. Van Horne Bridge connects Campbellton, New Brunswick to Quebec, Canada. This was taken on Sept. 29, 2008. The distant trees have beautiful fall leaves.
The Robert Moses Causeway leads to Fire Island. We were standing on the beach near the lighthouse for sunset on September 17, 2010. A beautiful evening but a little warm.
The
Keweenaw Star motored under the 1962 Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge on Sept. 7, 2009. It spans the St. Mary's River between MI & Ontario, near the Soo Locks.
The Sea Bright Bridge crosses the Shrewsbury River in Sea Bright, New Jersey. This was taken on February 17, 2007 after we had a big ice and snow storm.
The Burlington Canal Lift Bridge is next to the Burlington Main RR light. The lift span is 380' long, weighs 2200 lbs., has a vertical lift of 110'. We were here on May 26, 2008.
We passed under the Delaware Memorial Bridge on May 21, 2011 while on a lighthouse cruise on the
Bonanza II boat. It's the 2nd longest twin suspension bridge in the world.
While at the Old Mackinac Point lighthouse I went to the water. The Mackinac Bridge is the 3rd longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere. Taken June 26, 2011.
The Benjamin Franklin Bridge is near the Barnegat Lightship. The
Bonanza II boat took the
NJLHS members on a 12 hour lighthouse cruise in the Delaware River on May 21, 2011.
On June 28, 2011 the 110'
Keweenaw Star passed under the I-43 Bridge in Wisconsin during the
GLLKA cruise. The two Grassy Island Range lights are near the bridge.
The Walt Whitman Bridge opened to traffic on May 16, 1957. It spans from Gloucester, NJ to Philadelphia, PA. Our
NJLHS group cruised under it on May 21, 2011.
The Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge aka the Buzzards Bay Railroad Bridge connects Cape Cod to the rest of Massachusetts. Taken on July 16, 2011 during the worst cruise ever.
The Sunshine Skyway Bridge aka Route 275 in St. Petersburg, Florida spans Tampa Bay.
We were in Fort De Soto Park because our boat charter was cancelled on April 24, 2018.
The Blue Water Bridge spans the St. Clair River. It's a twin span international bridge that connects Port Huron, MI to Sarnia, ON. Taken 7-1-11 during a
Huron Lady II cruise.
We passed under the Sagamore Bridge during the cruise out of Scituate, MA on July 16, 2011. We saw only 1 of the 5 lighthouses during this lighthouse cruise. Unbelievable!!
St. Martin's Replica lighthouse is next to the Irish River #1 covered bridge aka Vaughan Creek #1. This is on the eastern edge of St. Martin, NB. We were here on Oct. 3, 2008.
During a
NJLHS lighthouse cruise we passed under the Commodore John Barry Bridge. It opened to traffic on February 1, 1974 and spans from Bridgeport, NJ to Chester, PA.
We motored under the 400' high Veteran's Glass City Skyway Bridge I-280 during our
Sandpiper cruise on September 12, 2010. It crosses the Maumee River in Toledo, Ohio.
I took this shot of the Verrazano Bridge on October 8, 2011 during a six hour trip aboard
American Princess Cruises. We saw the nine lights in Raritan Bay and Lower New York Bay.
The Île d'Orléans Bridge was built in 1935 and spans the Saint Lawrence River. I took this on September 6, 2014 from the Parc de la Chute Montmorency in Quebec, Canada.
From the
American Princess Cruises boat I saw the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Vertical Lift Bridge in New York City that crosses Rockaway Inlet on Sept. 26, 2003.
I took this shot of the Arthur Ravenal Jr. Bridge from the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston, SC on September 15, 2013. The cable stayed bridge's length is 13,200 feet.
Almost under the Seal Island Bridge - Rt. 105 in Nova Scotia, Canada is the McNeil Beach lighthouse, on a hook of land on the southeast end. Taken on September 4, 2017.
During a lighthouse cruise with friends I took this shot of Maryland's Francis Scott Key Bridge. The remains of the Fort Carroll lighthouse is near. Taken on August 2, 2014.
The Thousand Islands International Bridge spans from Alexandria Bay, NY to Gananoque, ON. We motored under it on May 14, 2011 during our 11 hour
NELL lighthouse cruise.
The Crescent City Connection Bridge crosses the Mississippi River in New Orleans, LA. While near Jackson Square we saw these twin cantilever bridges, Rt. 90, on April 17, 2018.
The Peace Bridge connects Buffalo, NY with Fort Erie, Ontario. On September 11, 2010 we were on

There's no good place to stand on the Seal Island Bridge - Rt. 105 in Nova Scotia, Canada. I had to quickly take a photo of the McNeil Beach lighthouse on August 28, 2015.
The Mount Hope Bridge is next to the Bristol Ferry lighthouse in Rhode Island. It is a suspension bridge spanning the Mount Hope Bay. I took this shot on August 30, 2019.
The Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridge spans the west passage of Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. I was photographing the Plum Beach lighthouse next to it on August 31, 2019.
The Franklin D. Roosevelt International Bridge connects Lubec, Maine to Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada. This was taken from Canada on June 16, 2007.
We chartered a plane with
Fresh Air Aviation to photograph 14 area lighthouses. We had a few sprinkles of rain as we flew over the Mighty Mackinac Bridge on June 25, 2010.
