The Adfines Sea was on the St. Lawrence River near Vercheres, Quebec on September 2, 2014. This Oil/Chemical tanker was built in 2011, is 531 feet long and has a beam of 75'.
The wood hull sloop Friends Good Will is under full sail in South Haven, MI on July 1, 2010. The Tall Ship drops it's sails in South Haven Harbor before entering the channel.
The 804 foot long container ship Hapag Lloyd Mississauga Express passed Quebec's Pointe de la Prairie lighthouse on the St. Lawrence River on September 9, 2014.
This is the Alpena Freighter as seen from the
Keweenaw Star on September 8, 2009. The Alpena is 519' 6" long with a 67' beam. We were on
GLLKA's 4 day lighthouse cruise.
The bulk carrier, Kaptanoglu Eylul K. was built in Istanbul, Turkey. It's 518 feet long and 75 feet wide. We saw it anchored on September 5, 2014 during our Quebec boat trip.
The 1981 CLS Mapleglen bulk carrier passed us on September 9, 2014. We were on the free ferry to Île aux Coudres, Quebec to see the lighthouse on the St. Lawrence River.
The 1004' Edwin H. Gott Freighter passed under the Mackinac Bridge on September 9, 2009. It holds 74,100 tons. We shot this from the top deck of the
Keweenaw Star.
These fishing boats are in Shippagan, New Brunswick. We were traveling south, out of the Acadian Peninsula, on the chilly and windy September 30, 2008 seeing the lighthouses.
June 29, 2010 the historic 410' SS Badger passed the Manitowoc Breakwater lighthouse on its way to Ludington, Michigan. We on the
Keweenaw Star were lucky to see it.
The 610' bulk carrier, Andean, anchored in the St. Lawrence River in Quebec. We saw it from the Sorel Tracy-Sainte Ignace de Loyola ferry on September 3, 2014.
This is the Canadian Progress Freighter. We passed this 730' long, 75' beam and 46'6" deep vessel on September 7, 2009 while we motored 135 miles on the
Keweenaw Star.
This is the Maid of the Mist boat at Niagara Falls on the cloudy September 22, 2006. We popped into Canada for two hours during our lighthouse trip through Upper New York.
The S.S. Keewatin was on the Kalamazoo Lake in Saugatuck, Michigan. This Steam Ship is 350' long and has a 43.5' beam. On July 1, 2010 we saw this while at the lighthouse.
The River Lady paddleboat passed by us during the SailFest in Island Heights, NJ. It was a very long HHH September 8, 2007. I was one of the vendors during this event.
The cargo ship MSC Maureen passed us on the port of the
Bonanza II boat. On May 21, 2011 the
NJLHS cruised the Delaware River for 12 hours shooting the lights of DE & NJ.
The Ruby tanker, built in 1994, was on the Delaware River on May 21, 2011. Fun on the 12 hour lighthouse cruise along with the other
NJLHS members aboard the
Bonanza II.
This is the paddle boat we took for our Lake Mead Dinner Cruise while in Las Vegas, NV on August 16, 2006. The ride was two hours long and it went at a very slow and relaxed pace.
The Canadian Michipicoten Freighter capacity is 22,300 tons. It is 689' 6" long, 70' beam, and 37' deep. We took this on September 7, 2009 from the
Keweenaw Star 4 day cruise.
The Canadian Transport is going under the Blue Water Bridge on July 1, 2011 during our
Huron Lady II cruise of the St. Clair River. It's a 730' long self-unloading bulk carrier.
The Chemtrans Moon tanker in the Delaware River on May 21, 2011. We passed several large vessels during our
NJLHS lighthouse cruise of the Delaware River.
The Kaministiqua bulk carrier docked in the St. Lawrence River in Quebec. We passed it while on the Sorel Tracy-Sainte Ignace de Loyola ferry on September 3, 2014.
This U.S. Coast Guard vessel is in the canal near the Sturgeon Bay Canal lighthouses. The
Keweenaw Star motored past while we were on the way to the hotel on June 29, 2010.
The John G. Munson passed the Lake St. Clair lighthouse on July 9, 2012. It's a 768' self unloading bulk freighter with a 72' beam. We rented a boat to shoot four lighthouses.
The MSC Ilona is a container ship. It was anchored in the Patapsco River near Baltimore Harbor, MD on August 2, 2014. I was on a
ChesLights lighthouse cruise.
The bulk carrier Atlantic Elm Valletta is 623 feet long by 105 feet wide. On August 2, 2014 it was anchored in the Patapsco River near Baltimore Harbor, Maryland.
We boarded the
Huron Lady II on July 1, 2011 for a 2 hour cruise on the blue waters of the St. Clair River. Algoma Transfer's length is 650' 6", beam is 60' & depth is 35'.
The 149' John Purves tug is down the canal from the Sturgeon Bay Canal lighthouses. We passed it on June 29-30, 2010 while on our lighthouse cruise on the
Keweenaw Star.
On May 21, 2011 the SKS Senne tank ship passed the
NJLHS members aboard the
Bonanza II boat. We were on the Delaware River photographing lights of DE and NJ.
The US Coast Guard Cutter Bramble on July 1, 2011 was docked in the St. Clair River. We were on the
Huron Lady II two hour cruise to see the Lightship Huron and Fort Gratiot.
We took the 20 minute Lincolnville-Islesboro car ferry on June 15, 2007 to get to the Grindle Point lighthouse. We spent an hour at the light photographing it with the am sun.
The Puma Tanker is 183 meters long and 32 meters wide. We passed it on May 21, 2011 while on a 12 hour lighthouse cruise with other lighthouse hunters from the
NJLHS.
The 365' long MS Chi Cheemaun traverses Lake Huron between Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula and South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island. It took 1 ¾ hours on June 2, 2008.
The Herbert C. Jackson Freighter is 690' long, 75' beam, 37'6" deep, and holds 24,800 tons. Sept. 7, 2009 our
GLLKA group on the
Keweenaw Star went through the Soo Locks.
The 1000' Walter J. McCarthy Jr. is a self unloading bulk carrier. On July 9, 2012 we rented a boat out of Harsen's Island, MI to photograph 4 lighthouses in Lake St. Clair.

The 110 foot
Keweenaw Star during sunset at 9:34 pm in Charlevoix, Michigan on June 26, 2011. Our great four day
GLLKA lighthouse cruise began the following morning.
The Eukor vessel is a car carrier. We passed it on the Delaware River on May 21, 2011 during the
NJLHS lighthouse cruise. We saw several different vessels in 12 hours.
These Navy ships were in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 21, 2011. During our lighthouse cruise, with several other
NJLHS members, we motored passed them.
The 1000' Presque Isle is a self unloading barge Lake Bulk Carrier with a 104' beam. It was across from the Two Harbors lighthouses in Agate Bay on July 19, 2012.
This is the Vinaship anchored in the Delaware River on May 21, 2011. We passed it while on a lighthouse photography cruise with the other members of the
NJLHS.
The 728' Joseph L. Block is a self unloading bulk carrier. We passed it on June 30, 2011 during our great four day
GLLKA lighthouse cruise aboard the
Keweenaw Star.
The Reid McAllister Tug on May 21, 2011 in the Delaware River. It was built in 2008 and is 82 feet long and 32 feet wide. We motored passed it during a cruise with the
NJLHS.
The Bluenose II is the famous Nova Scotian fishing schooner that ports in Lunenburg, NS. On September 23, 2000 this Tall Ship passed the Maugher Beach lighthouse at 10:00 am.
The self unloading barge McKee Sons is 579'06" long with a beam of 71'06". We were on the two hour
Huron Lady II cruise of the St. Clair River on July 1, 2011.
The 432' 06" long Algosar (2) tanker in the beautiful blue waters of the St. Clair River on July 1, 2011. We motored past it during our two hour cruise on the
Huron Lady II.
Next to the Lahaina Harbor lighthouse on Maui sits the two masted museum ship the Carthaginian II Brig. This shot was taken on July 14, 2004 while we were on Maui.
The Canadian Coast Guard boat patrolled the blue-green waters of the St. Clair River on July 1, 2011. It passed us during our two hour long
Huron Lady II cruise.
The Algoway is 650' long with a 72' beam and a 40' depth. We aboard the
Huron Lady II on July 1, 2011 passed it during our cruise along the beautifully blue St. Clair River.
We passed this schooner during our four hour lighthouse trip with
Long Reach Cruises out of Bath, Maine. This boat trip showed us 11 lighthouses from the water on June 11, 2007.
Minutes after leaving the dock in Sturgeon Bay, WI the
Keweenaw Star motored past the 680' John J. Boland. June 28, 2011 was another good day with our
GLLKA friends.
The Queen Mary has been in Long Beach, CA since 1967. The 1,174 passenger ocean liner is 1,019.5' long, has 12 decks & completed 1,001 crossing of the Atlantic. Taken Aug. 11, 2010.
The Barbara E. Bouchard tugboat passed the Romer Shoal lighthouse while in Lower New York Bay on October 8, 2011. A few of us
NELL members were on a lighthouse cruise.
The 858' long, 105' beam self unloading bulk carrier Roger Blough passed us on June 25, 2011 during a private lighthouse charter . We were near the Middle Neebish Range light.
The 110 foot
Keweenaw Star before loading the 60 passengers on September 6, 2009. Our 4 day
GLLKA lighthouse cruise began in Hancock, MI and ended in Charlevoix, MI.
The John F. Kennedy Aircraft Carrier 67 and the USS Forrestal Aircraft Carrier 59 are docked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. We and
NJLHS saw them on May 21, 2011.
Canada Steamship Lines-CSL Niagara is 739' 10" long, with a beam of 78'. On June 27, 2011 we passed it an hour after seeing the South Fox Island lights with
GLLKA.
The tank barge Penn No. 80 navigating the Delaware River on May 21, 2011. It's 378' long 74' has a beam of 74' and is 31' deep. We saw this during our
NJLHS cruise.
During our trip with
Balmy Days Cruises out of Boothbay Harbor, ME we passed Maine's 140' Sherman's Zwicker on June 18, 2007. We had a nice day on Monhegan Island.
While on Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada we saw the 358' long Lady Claudia Cargo Ship pass by the Leonardville lighthouse on September 16, 2011.
On October 8, 2011 the tank barge Penn No. 81 headed towards the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge during our lighthouse trip aboard
American Princess Cruises.
Our 30 foot Hunter sailboat, Always Forward Never Strait, is sailing a port tack. I was in a dingy photographing Tommy sailing around on August 15, 2001 with our old 35mm camera.
The MSC Maria Laura is a container ship. We passed it while on our friend's boat on September 3, 2014. This was near the Ile du Moine Front Range lighthouse in Quebec.
On the
Sheplers westbound lighthouse cruise on August 6, 2009 we passed the Cason J. Callaway Freighter powering through the Straits of Mackinac. It's 767' long, 70' wide.
The Mayflower II replica is at the State Pier in Plymouth, MA. We passed the vessel during the leisure 1 ¼ hour
Pilgrim Belle Cruise to the Duxbury Pier lighthouse on May 31, 2009.
The 869 foot long, 105 foot wide Wallenius Wilhelmsen Salome is a vehicles carrier. It was anchored in the Patapsco River near Baltimore Harbor, MD on August 2, 2014.
This Tall Ship is now a restaurant and bar called Moshulu. It's at 401 S. Columbus Blvd. in Philadelphia, PA. The
Bonanza II passed it on May 21, 2011 during our
NJLHS cruise.
The 945 foot long SS Denebola (T-AKR-289) is anchored in Baltimore Harbor, Maryland on August 2, 2014. I was on a
ChesLights cruise with several other lighthouse hunters.
In 2008 the Onondaga submarine was moved to Rimouski, Quebec. It serves as a museum vessel. It is anchored near the Point Au Pere lighthouse. Taken on September 17, 2014.
This US Coast Guard vessel was anchored in Port Huron, MI on July 1, 2011. We passed it while traveling on the blue waters of the St. Clair River aboard the
Huron Lady II.
The
Sheplers 75 mile westbound lighthouse cruise narrated by
Terry Pepper on August 6, 2009 passed the Saginaw Freighter. 639'3" long, 72' beam, 36' deep, holds 20,200 tons.
The Algoeast Freighter is near Detroit, MI on July 3, 2010. We were photographing the Detroit River light and Canada's Bob-lo from the 15 mile-2 ½ hour
Discovery Cruises boat.
During our 4 day lighthouse excursion on the
Keweenaw Star on June 29, 2010 we saw the Nina and the Pinta off Rawley Point. The Nina has a 65' deck length, and the Pinta has 85'.
While on the
Keweenaw Star lighthouse cruise on June 28, 2011 we passed this Great Lakes vessel. We always have a fantastic time with the crew and fellow
GLLKA members.
August 1, 2009 we toured Upper Michigan's well kept off-shore DeTour Reef lighthouse. The Indiana Harbor Freighter is 1000' long, 105'beam, 56' deep and holds 78,850 tons.
September 13, 2011 was mostly foggy as we left Stonington, ME. We passed the Grace Bailey schooner on our way to the lighthouse during the
Isle Au Haut Mail Boat ride.
While we photographed the Main Duck Island lighthouse the 531.5 foot Harbour Progress tanker passed. We saw two new Canadian lights on our May 6, 2012 boat trip.
The American Century is 1000' long, has a 105' beam, is 56' deep and holds 78,850 tons. The
Keweenaw Star passed it on Sept. 8, 2009 during our 92 mile jaunt with
GLLKA.
From Kingston, Ontario we took the Kingston-Pelee Island Ferry to Pelee Island on July 21, 2009. We enjoyed both the 90 minute rides and hung out at the Pelee Island lighthouse.
The bulk carrier, Cornelia was anchored in the Patapsco River near Baltimore Harbor, MD on August 2, 2014. I was on a
ChesLights cruise with many other lighthouse hunters.
The 1925 William G. Mather Cleveland Cliffs was a Great Lakes Freighter. One can tour this restored 618-foot historic flagship. We saw it in Cleveland, OH on June 20, 2010.
Highlander Sea is an 154' long two masted sailing vessel built in 1927. On July 1, 2011 from the
Huron Lady II we saw the Lightship Huron and Fort Gratiot from the water.
The stern of this Steamship says United States New York. We 50
NJLHS members passed it on May 21, 2011 while on the Delaware River photographing lighthouses.
The Algoma Progress passed the East Charity Shoal lighthouse on Lake Ontario on May 6, 2012. Our charter captain, Dave Gardner, motored us to five lighthouses.
The Mystic Whaler passed the well kept Morgan Point lighthouse on August 10, 2005. We shot 11 lighthouses in 5 hours while on the
Sunbeam Fleet Lighthouse Cruise.
The Cosco container ship passed the West Bank lighthouse on its way to New York on October 8, 2011. We shot the lights aboard
American Princess Cruises.
Out of Cleveland, Ohio we took the two hour cruise on the
Goodtime III. We passed this Fire Boat on Father's Day, June 20, 2010. We got close to the two off-shore lights.
The Oakville lighthouse in Oakville, ON is located on the grounds of the Oakville Yacht Squadron. We took this shot on May 25, 2008 after visiting 5 other lighthouses.
We were on the Sorel Tracy-Sainte Ignace de Loyola ferry on September 3, 2014. We traveled one mile in ten minutes. This other ferry is going in the opposite direction.
The cargo ship Oceanex Connaigra is on the St. Lawrence River on September 13, 2014. It is 689 feet long, has a 98.5 foot beam and draws 24.28 feet. We were on a ferry.
GLLKA chartered the Sea Hunter III to take we 37 people from Grand Portage, MN to Isle Royale, MI and back again. For two days in 2013 we saw four island lighthouses upclose.
The Federal Tiber bulk carrier is anchored off shore of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec. We saw it after seeing the Ile Dupas Front Range lighthouse by boat on September 5, 2014.
Here are United States Coast Guard vessels in Massachusetts on October 1, 2011. We saw ten lighthouses in during the six hour cruise with both
ALF and
Friends of Flying Santa.
The Sandy motored our group of 37 people to see the Passage Island and Rock Harbor lighthouses around Isle Royale, Michigan on July 8, 2013. Great times with
GLLKA.
We saw the Wagonborg Freighter, in the fog, on the St. Lawrence River near Tibbetts Point light.
Uncle Sam's Boat Tours took our
NELL lighthouse group 110 miles on 5-14-11.
The bulk carrier, Navios, seen from the Old Plantation Flats lighthouse in Cape Charles, Virginia. We were here on the beautiful September 14, 2013.
The Real Muskoka cruise aboard the Segwun on July 4, 2013 allowed us to see the Gravenhurst Narrows lighthouse. This was the 1,275th lighthouse we've seen.
On September 2, 2014 the oil products tanker, Vega Desgagnes, traveled past Iles de Varennes on the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada. It's 463' long by 69' wide.
The preserved 1938 Great Lakes steamer, William A Irvin, at her berth at Duluth, Minnesota on July 10, 2013. The motor boat we chartered docked across from it.
After we got my Honda fixed after a freak problem we were back on the road shooting lighthouses. On September 29, 2006 we visited the Erie Yacht Club and lighthouse.
The Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina has the Aircraft Carrier USS Laffey (DD-724). I took this on September 15, 2013.
While at the Mississagi Strait lighthouse on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada we saw the Self Discharging Bulk Carrier, Cuyahoga, steam by us on June 24, 2011.
While photographing the Pendlebury lighthouse on the Passamaquoddy Bay, the Jolly Breeze of St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada passed us on shore on Sept. 24, 2008.
USS Battleship New Jersey on May 21, 2011. We on the
NJLHS cruise passed it while on the Delaware River photographing the lighthouses of New Jersey and Delaware.
The Great Lakes Trader barge is 740' long, 78' beam, 45' deep and can hold 39,600 tons. We saw this on September 7, 2009 during our lighthouse cruise on the
Keweenaw Star.
On beautiful August 4, 2009 we took the 2 ¼ hour Beaver Island Boat Company ferry to Beaver Island. We enjoyed seeing the lighthouses on the island during our travels.
The 1000' Presque Isle is a self unloading barge Lake Bulk Carrier. We chartered a boat out of Duluth, Minnesota to photograph the Duluth lighthouses on July 10, 2013.
The Jaw Igelhart was a bulk carrier, now it is always docked. We were finishing our successful 1 ¾ hour boat charter on July 10, 2013 out of Duluth, Minnesota.
Tommy and two of his friends went for short afternoon sail in Sandy Hook Bay on August 20, 2008. Before he dropped the sails I took this shot from the beach near Doris and Ed's.
The Self Discharging Bulk Carrier, Cuyahoga, was across from the McKay Island lighthouse in Ontario on July 5, 2013. It must have off loaded. The gross tonnage is 10,532 tons.
The Self Discharging Bulk Carrier Algoma Transfer was across from the McKay Island lighthouse in Ontario on June 24, 2011. In 2014 she was decommissioned and scrapped.
Near the Rochester Harbor cylindrical “D9” tower several teens were learning how to sail on September 19, 2006. We enjoyed our time overlooking beautiful Lake Ontario.
On September 12, 2010 during the 5 hour lighthouse cruise on the 65'
M/V Sandpiper we saw this freighter near Toledo, OH. We finally saw Toledo Harbor and Turtle Island.
The Oil/Chemical Tanker Torm Freya was passing the Statue of Liberty on October 8, 2011. The 6 hour Ultimate Lighthouse tour aboard
American Princess Cruises was good.
These are just a few of the lobster boats in Maine on September 30, 2004. Our day began with a 3 hour boat trip for 3 lighthouses with
Robertson Sea Tours out of Milbridge, ME.
This is the Endeavour Barge in the Straits of Mackinac on September 9, 2009. It is 360' long, has a 60' beam, and 24' deep. We were with the
GLLKA group on the
Keweenaw Star.
