This used to be named the Maurice River Light and it was changed to East Point lighthouse in 1913. Many New Jersey lighthouses, including this one, take part in the annual NJ Lighthouse Challenge.The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
We've visited the East Point lighthouse for 3 of the 4 seasons over the years. There are several locations to take your shots from. We've parked at the end of Lighthouse Road to walk to the light and then walked along the beach. If you go into the marsh it is wet so be careful and we don't know how deep it gets. We've driven down East Point Road for the views from there. We especially enjoy the tall grasses with the different stages of color for the seasons. We've also parked in the lot at the end of East Point Road. We've taken nice shots with the water and the distant light. This is our favorite New Jersey lighthouse. When we went in the summer it was very buggy and there were so many green heads too. The next time I go there after a large snow storm I won't forget to bring my taller snow boots.Photographed it: several times, the last visit was on January 10, 2011
