Other Lighthouse Information:
Warrior Rock lighthouse is on the northern tip of Sauvie Island which is in between Route 30 and Highway 5. The lighthouse is accessed by a six mile round trip hike from the end of Reeder Road. At the store 3-5 miles away you must pay the parking permit before you park there. Try to walk mostly on the wide truck path instead of going on the soft sandy beach. Don't forget toilet tissues for the pit-stops.
The Lighthouse Hunters Experience:
It was a cloudy and gloomy day when we hiked to Warrior Rock lighthouse. It was our only lighthouse of the day in Oregon. We paid the $ 3.50 in cash for the parking permit because we couldn't risk getting our rental car towed. We were told to put all our other equipment in the truck for safe keeping. We started out walking on the beach and saw the wall of sand on our left (never saw that before). Next was the two track path with tall grasses and weeds. There were also many sticker bushes that hurt us during our 65 minute walk out. We also fought off several mosquitoes during our 2 ½ hour adventure. Next time we'll try to find a boat.
